Step-Mother Group

Are you a step-mom?
Are you contemplating becoming one?
Do you know someone who is?

Whether we call them blended families, bonus families, or step families...being in a relationship with someone who has children born or adopted to another mother can provide joys and challenges. What it surely brings is complexity.

Rather than join a self-help or support group for step-mothers, you may be interested in group therapy. This group will be facilitated by Karen Rowinsky, a psychotherapist, social worker, and step-mother. Group therapy offers the benefit to learn from others along with the help of an experienced family therapist. The group can also offer you:

  • A safe place to share concerns with others that have "been there" too
  • Proven strategies to help you make your role more positive for you, your partner, and the children or adult children
  • Help in setting boundaries with your partner and kids (both younger and adult)
  • Ways to deal with the challenges of "yours, mine, and our" kids
  • Time to share feelings whether they be positive or negative
  • Communication tactics to deal with the children's mother
  • An economical way to obtain professional counseling

Call Karen at 913-663-3511 if you would like to learn more. Please pass this on to any other step-mothers you know.
